a minor tma fandom thing that has amused me for a few years is that, after the show ended, a very obvious way to see the different approaches people had been taking to engaging with it became to hear their recommendations for what media you should try if you'd liked it. suddenly the veil parted and I could be like ooohhh of course we never saw eye to eye, you're listening to it like the way you listen to heart-warming found family actual play ttrpgs and I'm listening to it like eighty hour hamlet.

okay I don't really know how to frame this. but like. funniest way to confirm Dean is Ben's dad is
20 year-old Ben takes a genetics test for fun or whatever, and the results he gets back are just batshit insane. it's like. oh hey. my biological father is a known serial killer who's still on the FBI's most wanted list and has been found or thought dead multiple times. and my uncle. and my grandfather. and my grandmother. and my--

Imagining Shadiversity on Earth Bet as a podcaster, complaining about how fewer super heroines are wearing skirts and blames it on Alexandria deciding to wear pants as an adult.
Thinks that Dragon running the guild is an attempt to oppress male superheroes and keeps talking about Narwhals unicorn horn in the same way he talks about women with blue hair.
Thinks Legend, Stonewall, and Switch Hitter are psy-ops to attack traditional family values.
Insists that super heroines should have boob armor as it is “totally possible” historically.

A Fox, a Snake, and a Vulture Go About Town
Day 3: Slasher / Any horror movie AU
In the city of Ottawa, chaos is afoot. A serial killer has been killing off young hopefuls, people at their highest points of success, and more. Police have been on the hunt for the one getting away with all of this.
It would help if they recognized that they were dealing with not one serial killer, but two.
Alejandro and Heather are each serial killers.
Heather uses it as a bid for attention from what she lacks at home. So far only negative attention has gotten any notice. She might as well lean into it. If she can’t get it from her parents, she can least get it from others as they talk about her exploits more and more.
Alejandro sees it as an outlet for his aggression for being inferior to José, so he sees it as a matter of pride as it's something he can control and is making him more infamous than José, though not in a way he could ever quite make public. He seeks control.
Their killings appear similar, though closer investigation would reveal their methods are distinct from each other. Alejandro has more of a pattern to how he does things, whereas Heather's is more chaotic/sloppy because the emphasis is on brutality rather than a form of comfort/peace of mind.
Each were aware of each other. They would find themselves at odds for who would steal the headline with their killings. However, it was smarter to let the police think it was only one of them committing homicide rather than two. Hunting each other would mean taking time away from their personal hobbies. So they abided each other’s existence. Let everyone else believe them to be one person.
All except for Noah, who had been aware of the killings, but honestly couldn't care less.
At least, not until he stumbles across one of their victims’ corpses by sheer chance.
He reports it in, of course. It’s what he’s supposed to do.
Gives his statements, takes time off work to process.
Processes how this is the first time he’s felt alive in quite a while. His curiosity is piqued and he wants to know more.
So he starts investigating. Not to capture or stop them. But because he wants to see them in action to see if it's an even better break from his typical apathy than just seeing the corpse was.
He figures out what times they're most active and does a little corpse sweep about an hour or two afterwards. He doesn't want to risk actually running into them because he's not stupid enough to think he's just going to be immune to them seeing him as a threat. It would be nice if he could catch a body when it was more fresh, though. For curiosity’s sake.
He studies the bodies enough to be able to tell the two apart. He internalized them as ‘Snake’ and ‘Fox’. Two similar, yet distinct methods of killing.
He can tell they don't really care about the bodies afterwards since there isn't much display aside from the bodies being there and not properly disposed of.
Especially when the two of them meet and fall for each other. Noah can tell by how the causes of deaths on the corpses mix.
It wasn’t intentional on their end, of course. They just happened to meet while going after the same victim. They each had faces to their rivals now. It stoked an urge of competition in them, and they began making more elaborate kills. Messages that only each other could understand.
It was inevitable that they’d get together, really.
They get sloppier in their kills as they get more concerned about flirting with each other than remaining uncaught.
He’d lecture them were it not for the fact that despite his newfound fascination with death and corpses, he himself does not wish to die.
He does like seeing them, which means if he wants to keep doing this, he's going to have to help these two lovestruck idiots from getting caught. First he takes it upon himself to clean up any evidence, until he gets another idea as picking apart at the evidence is getting more difficult.
He can just take care of the whole corpse. And answer for himself some questions he'd been curious about, such as 'how long does a human body take to burn' and 'what does a drowned corpse look like'.
He takes the corpses to a landfill. It presents so many opportunities to have big machinery to mutilate the corpses in various ways. He started off doing this just to make sure the other two wouldn't get caught, but now he's just enjoying experimenting on corpses.
He’s having the time of his life! Though now Alejandro and Heather aren't so much because hey. Hey where's their media attention? Where's the talk of corpses on the news? Why's it 'disappearances' now? They're not kidnappers, they're murderers who work hard and deserve to be acknowledged as such!
They're ramping up their kills in the hopes of getting at least a few corpses past whoever's doing this. Even going as far as doing it separately to try getting one past him.
They've got their own nickname for Noah: Vulture. Unfortunately for him, he won't realize that they’re onto him at first. He's gotten cocky about how good he is and just assumes they're doing their kills separately now because they had some kind of lover's spat.
So they do what they do best. They hunt him. Though with him, it’s different. Because they know what he does, but now who he is.
Rather thank stalk him and learning of him before taking him out, they use the bait he’s always drawn to
They wait hidden away near one of their corpses to catch him in the act of taking them away.
The sad part on his end is that it was barely a fight. He actually had been getting a bit stronger due to having to carry corpses around by himself. But it was still nothing compared to two people who made their living subduing others who are still alive. The only reason he's not killed instantly is because they have questions. Instead he's knocked out rather brutally and dragged to their safe house.
When he wakes up blindfolded, gagged, and tied up, he knows his time is up.
They allow him to see and speak, so he lets the words that want to come out of his mouth do just that.
"…So I guess you two made up, made out, and are back in your honeymoon phase?"
Despite his words, Noah is genuinely terrified. Particularly because he's noticed that the victims have been receiving slower, more brutal deaths. And for as much as he's fascinated by death he himself has a very low pain tolerance.
…But also he does really admire their work. Even if he knows he’s about to become a part of it, he might as well give what he assumes will be his last words:
Genuine praise and criticism about their work.
What buys him some time, despite the criticisms which they didn't appreciate, is the fact that neither Heather nor Alejandro are immune to this massive boost to their egos this gives them.
Heather in that someone new is giving her all the attention and praise she's been craving, and Alejandro in that someone sees him for him and not 'José's brother', and understands how comforting dealing with a body is.
Despite the flattery, they haven’t forgotten about why they’ve kidnapped him instead of killing him. They want to know what he’s been doing with all of those bodies, and why.
There’s no reason to lie to them. So he tells them everything.
they're cognizant enough to figure that he could just be lying to save his own life, so they decide to have him put his money where his mouth is: by keeping him prisoner 'until they deem fit'.
Which for them means 'until we can find a new victim to slaughter in front of you to see if you're really as depraved as we are'.
They slaughter their newest victim just as they normally would. It's a passionate display between them as they complement each other and pay just as much attention to each other as their victim who is just the canvas of their love.
They get so into putting their performance that they almost forget about their captive audience. When they turn to look at Noah, they see that just as the life is fading in their victim's eyes, life is sparking in Noah's.
It’s enough to convince them he’s genuine.
Heather moves to pick up the corpse and is about to drag it away to who knows where. Noah can not let it go to waste.
"Wait!" He breaks free of his restraints and scrambles towards the fox with the ensnared carrion. "Don't move it. I've never had one this fresh before. I need to see how long it takes for it to fully bleed out.”
He's so eager, and also he only really has the tools on him rather than his full suite of tools, that he just goes gung ho at first until he begins to remember that there's supposed to be a method to this and now he's scrambling to replicate said method as much as he can while trying (and failing) to contain his own giddiness.
When he remembers that now he has an audience, he's starts talking through exactly what he's doing with the body. Alejandro and Heather get the unique experience of watching someone else work their craft.
Just as him watching them work is when he fell in love with them as he saw the dedication in their craft, watching him work is how they fall in love with him.
That's how two becomes three as Heather and Alejandro kill with Noah watching, while Noah takes care of the bodies with them watching him work.
